Wow! I can’t believe how neglected this blog has been. The last entry was in August 2011!! August!!!! It’s been a long time and a good 5 months or so since that last entry.
So what have I been up to? Nothing much really. It was all just work! Yes, you hear right, and you must be thinking that I am mad to have survived that near-death experience to now want to spend my precious life WORKING??!?!
Well, I am not too sure how I can explain this for anyone of you out there to understand. It does sound insane that I am devoting more of my time to work now (and a lot less to blogging and shooting pictures and cooking…). It isn’t the case where I am a crazy workaholic but something stirred in me and I can’t ignore it. Mainly I just wanted to do something meaningful with my life.
“Sure thing,” you would probably say, “but why work??”
For a long time, work was dreadful. It was pretty much the same routine on a different day with a different face or name. I got to a position where everything was stagnated. Some people see that as comfortable. But it troubled me. Because there were more things that I could do with my time. There were more ways to spend my time meaningfully. If I were to be working, I should really have to spend that time more productively, efficiently and meaningfully. This was the nagging thought in my head for some time.
The accident and close brush with death only heightened my senses and made me more resolved to get moving.
And I did. And got myself a new job I did.
It sounded crazy but I did spend the first two months working very late every night, and I saw through a very important project for my new firm and that made history for the firm and also a little for the industry. Tiring as it was, being in a new environment and having to deal with this project, I, ironically enjoyed every moment of it. Strange but true. The feeling is quite….electrifying…to a certain extent.
Anyway, 2012. What’s coming up?
As usual, most people are making resolutions. For a long time, I had not really made any resolutions, always thinking what the point might be, if at all, any of these resolutions would be accomplished. But I came across a rather interesting point of view as I was reading yesterday’s papers (Sunday Times’ Lifestyle section). Something along the lines of not focusing on what was not achieved but on what had been achieved that were outside of the plan. Could be quite a lot! … Hmm… Ok… interesting way to look at things. But I must say it inspires confidence.
So, I decided to take real action on my many years old New Year resolution and have in fact started on them. Here are some of them:
1. Get fit – Have gotten a gym membership and have started my first workout of the year last week. Intending to clock at least a workout once a week and with plans to get onto a personal training programme.
2. Drink less coffee – By accident, I discovered that I can actually get by without that much coffee. If I do feel like a second cuppa in the afternoon, I am consciously choosing 1. a healthy snack like a fruit or 2. have a decaf instead.
3. Drink more water – Works well with Item 2. Less of that and more of this. Works out very well.
4. Go to bed by 11pm – Strictly adhering to this for a good number of days now.. (which now means I have only 5 minutes more to complete this!)
5. Boil kick-ass wholesome nutritious soups every weekend – Sounds weird? Not really. Just craving for good food that’s all and I want everyone to enjoy this at home. Have already done that yesterday! 51 more to go!
………………………….
I still have a lot more to go and some are.. kind of private.. But I think it’s not too bad a start for someone who’s been …er…a little on the lazy side. hahaha
oh well, whatever it is, I hope you guys make this year a good and meaningful one. It’s true that time and tide waits for no man…woman…whatever…you get the drift!
So, have a blast!!

Great to see you back in action (here in the blog). Happy 2012!
